Established and desired in 1966 by the Ministry of Industry as a Public Institute for the Quality of Gemological and Precious Materials, the Center, for almost 50 years, has represented a major point of reference in the jewelry industry.
In 1984 it was transformed into a Special Company within the Chamber of Commerce so that it could be more accessible to professionals in the field, offering Analytical Services, Education, and Information.
This is how the name CISGEM was born - Centro Informazione e Servizi Gemmologici. The trademark that identifies the company was inspired by a very important piece of jewelry in the culture of the region of Lombardy:
In 2007 the Center was transformed into a Limited Company (SpA) and in 2012 it became part of the Special Company Innovhub Stazioni Sperimentali - CCIAA Milano.
January 1, 2015 CISGEM was sold by CCIAA Milan to the company Pronto Gold SpA which entrusted CISGEM with the management of FONDAZIONE GEMMOLOGICA ITALIANA - in which CISGEM enters as its own entity thus maintaining its complete and absolute independence from the private and commercial world.
The FGI is a non-profit organi- zation recognized by the Region of Lombardy whose objectives are analytical services (internationally recognized), applied research, technical-scientific counseling, education and drafting official guidelines.
